Milford to Haslemere Day Walk (July 2025)

Driving to Haslemere early Saturday morning my thoughts were that this could be a very wet walk - it was pouring with rain and the forecast was not good. Susan and I had breakfast in Harper's Steakhouse opposite the station before catching a delayed train to Milford; in fact all the trains all along the line were subject to signalling problems.
The whole group finally met up around 11:45 in Milford near a bakery where the on-time arrivals sheltered from the rain. This actually worked out as the rain finally stopped and it largely remained dry for the rest of the day.
The route went west of Milford, south to Warren Mere, across a bird reservation to Thursley, and then generally following the Greensand Way to Hindhead Common. The Devil's Punch Bowl provided a welcome refreshment stop with teas and ice creams. A continuation of the Greensand Way descended into Haslemere where drinks and meals were purchased at Harper's Steakhouse opposite the railway station whilst waiting for (delayed) trains back into London.
