WHY WALK WITH IBEX?

Friendly and welcoming outdoor club, for mountain and hill walkers of all ages, social backgrounds, UK locations, and experience.

Try out a weekend and/or two day walks before joining.

Inexpensive weekends away every month:
- A great way to explore the mountains, hills and coasts of England and Wales.
- Average accommodation cost per night less than £30.
- Food cost per weekend is £10 - £20.
- Well organised to ensure everyone has a good time, e.g. sharing of walk planning, walk leading and cooking (but not compulsory!).
- Choice of walks each day.
- Outstanding communal meals - we eat and drink together.
- Shared transport and transport costs.

Day walk accessible from London by train every month.

Longer trips away in UK (e.g. Scotland) and overseas.

Small walking groups (sociable and easy to get to know fellow members).

Navigation and walk leadership training/mentoring available.

Trips planned well in advance (easy to plan your year).

OUR ACTIVITIES

Weekend trips

Ibex weekend trips go to the mountains, hills and the coast. Our favourite locations include the Lake District, Snowdonia, Yorkshire, Dartmoor, Brecon Beacons and the Peak District. We usually stay in bunkhouses and hostels to keep costs down.

Day walks

Ibex organises a day walk every month. Walks start from a railway station, a short journey from London. They're a good way to get to know Ibex members and to build your fitness before coming on an Ibex weekend for the first time.

Monthly club night

We meet on the second Wednesday evening of each month in central London. There is usually a slideshow or workshop, or in the summer a short walk starting and finishing at a pub. If you're thinking of joining Ibex it's a good opportunity to meet members and to find out more about the club.

Week trips

Ibex organises week trips to Scotland staying in self-catering cottages, so it's more deluxe than our weekends - a great way to get to the remote hills. Trips to the Alps or other European mountains are often organised too.

Ibex occasionally organises other events throughout the year. For example, the AGM and the annual photo competition where the winning photos are used to create an Ibex calendar.
