The weekend nearly didn't happen due to a power problem, but luckily the Rydal Hall staff had managed to install a very large, temporary (and noisy!) generator outside the front of the bunkhouse the day before. Those who arrived in good time walked down to the Glen Rothay Hotel and Badger Bar (aptly named as badgers can be seen in the garden in the late evening!) for excellent food and drink.
On the Friday one of the main walks undertaken was the classic Fairfield horseshoe for which Rydal Hall is in a perfect starting position. The weather started off sunny but slowly deteriotated, being quite windy on the summit with light rain in the afternoon, but there were good views over southern Lakeland all day long.

In the evening a massage table was set up and one of the Davids massaged another David (in preparation for running the London marathon the following weekend). Natalia's birthday was also celebrated with lots of prosecco!

Walks on Saturday included a circuit from Grasmere taking in Easedale, a scramble up Jack's Rake in Great Langdale, and a circuit from Rydal Hall taking in Elterwater and Grasmere.

Sunday dawned a sunny day. Everybody converged on Tarn Howes for the start of Mags' final Wainwright walk. A pleasant walk around one side of the tarn followed by a track through trees led to Black Fell and the summit of Black Crag. A great achievement for Mags! And the fizz flowed again in the evening.

Thanks go to Natalia and Janette for organising a great Easter weekend, to all the walk leaders, and the cooking teams for serving up all the delicious food.
