A terrific trio arrived at the Branscombe Airfield and Campsite Thursday afternoon. Two tents were pitched in glorious sunshine. Viv drove us to the Blue Ball Inn for dinner followed by red wine back at our tent. 'Branscombe' can be interpreted as 'the valley of the raven', but no ravens were seen.

Friday morning dawned with a refreshing sea breeze. We set off on a 10 mile walk along the coast westwards and then inland back to Branscombe via the Donkey Sanctuary for afternoon tea. The morning stretch was very busy with walkers doing the Rally Round Rupert challenge (40 miles) for Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

We walked to the Fountain Head Inn in Branscombe for dinner.

On Saturday we walked eastwards along the coast path with morning coffee at Branscombe Mouth Sea Shanty Cafe. Continuing on to Beer, lunch was had at the beach and Viv went for a swim. David had a beer in Beer at the Barrel of Beer pub and bought the T-shirt. We returned to Branscombe inland with afternoon tea in the Old Bakery followed by dinner at the Red Lion in Sidbury.

Sunday was very windy and we walked along the coast path from Budleigh Salterton to Exmouth and back with a coffee stop, an ice cream stop, and a G&T/beer stop back at Budleigh Salterton. In the evening we walked downhill to the Mason's Arms in Branscombe for dinner - Sunday roasts - then the long uphill walk back to our tents.
