A select five Ibex members (and mainly a Maidenhead contingent) did the 13.5 mile walk from Maidenhead to Henley on a lovely sunny day. After escaping the urban streets of Maidenhead, we walked through the wooded Maidenhead Thicket, had a snack stop near Burchett's Green, then ascended and descended Ashley Hill to the delightful Dew Drop Inn (known as "the pub in the woods").

After refreshments at the pub, and a few delicious chips courtesy of a neighbouring table (they had ordered too much food!), a short walk led us to our lunch spot. A mile further on the River Thames was reached. We turned left and followed the river all the way to Henley via Culham Court deer park (with white deer which apparently are quite rare) and Hambleden Lock.

Further refreshments were had at The Angel pub in Henley beside the Thames before taking a train to Twyford for trains back to Maidenhead and London.
