Come all Ye Merry Gentlemen, Women (and maybe some visiting children) and join Cathy, Gina (ents co-ord) and Karen for the annual Ibex Xmas weekend!!

This year we will be staying in an easily accessible part of North Wales, Llangollen on the A5. Llangollen is a bustling place to stay with ample independent shops, cafes and restaurants and a useful array of supermarkets.

There’s an abundance of potential activities on our doorstep or very nearby with the Vale of Llangollen, Berwyn Mountains and the Clwydian Range for those wanting a good yomp to build up sufficient appetite for all the Xmas feasting! There’s also lots of low level activities for those looking for a gentler weekend: Llangollen Canal, the Dee River walk, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Horseshoe Falls and Castell Dinas Bran ruins overlooking Llangollen. There are also other non-activity things to do, e.g. heritage railway rides, ancient abbey, museum to name a few if the mood takes or the weather suggests!

We’ll repair to one of the many local pubs for food and drink on Friday 12th and enjoy a Xmas nosh up on the Saturday night, created by our members, with fizz and Xmas music and maybe some fun things to do…

And if that’s not enough to entice you, just take a look at this beautiful hostel on their website (see above). It’s in a Victorian house, very well equipped and most bedrooms have an en suite.

As always, we encourage drivers to offer car share where possible. Public transport to Llangollen is available by a minimum of 2 trains and a bus. Or car drivers may be able to pick up from the nearest stations, Ruabon (15 mins drive  each way) or Chirk (13 mins drive each way) if requested well in advance.

* The deposit covers the accommodation cost if the weekend is full. The balance is the extra accommodation cost if the weekend is not full (up to a cap of £40 per night) plus a share of the communal food.
