Gower was Britain’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so here’s your chance to found out why. Moorland walks in the centre, saltmarsh and burrows to the north, or spectacular coastal walks to the south, with golden beaches thrown in for good measure. There are a couple of interesting peninsulas to explore, including a five-hour tidal window to head out along Worm’s Head and catch sight of a seal busy sunning itself. Swimming is an option in sheltered bays or from the usually rougher Rhossili beach. Climbing is an option too.
