A lovely circular walk on the South Downs with stunning views of the south coast and beautiful West Sussex countryside. The walk starts at Amberley Railway Station and heads west up onto Bignor Hill on the South Downs via the Monarch’s Way through Houghton Woods, then continuing west on the South Downs Way towards Upwaltham. With a small amount of steps retracing, the return is back down to Amberley along an invigorating stretch of the South Downs Way with great views of Pulborough Brooks. There are opportunities for refreshments at the end in Amberley – there is café and pub – before heading off home.
Amberley is accessible by direct trains from London and also by car (about 1.5 hours drive from London). There is limited parking at the station so public transport is the probably the best.
Day walks are open to Club Members and Prospective Members alike. There is no charge for attending, but you do need to book with the organiser via the website.
