The route will be from Guildford station to Dorking station(s) entirely on the North Downs Way. Distance is 24km (15 miles) and ascent 490m, mainly through forested areas. Estimated start time will be 10:05 to align with the 08:55 train from Waterloo, and for those driving, nearest parking is the Farnham Road multi-storey. Return rail options from Dorking are (1) from Deepdene, 20 mins to Guildford every half an hour (for drivers); (2) from Dorking Main to Victoria twice an hour, or Deepdene to London Bridge, taking about an hour, for those returning to central London.
Lunch will be a picnic at either Newlands Corner (with café) or Combe Bottom (with kiosk van) depending on timings on the day. As the walk ends by crossing Denbies wine estate, we might try to find the café/bar there (subject to opening hours and weather), or one of the pubs in Dorking to end the day.
Day walks are open to Club Members and Prospective Members alike. There is no charge for attending, but you do need to book with the organiser via the website.
