Day Walk: Epping with some dusk to night navigation at the end of the walk

Join us for a walk with a difference - Epping Forest for some forest navigation by day and then dusk and in the dark.
Start at Chingford station at 2pm. It’s on the Overground from Liverpool Street / Hackney Downs / Walthamstow Central.
By car, aim for Beresford Road, Forest Avenue or nearby streets. They are 5 minutes or less from the station. Don’t park in the Forest car parks or you’re likely to get locked in.
It’s a relatively short walk at approximately 13km but we’ll be stopping a lot for navigation points. Extra layers to slip on whilst we’re stopped would be handy, as would a flask of hot drink and a good sandwich or snack.
It will be muddy. Boots with good grip, and a walking pole will help keep you upright.
Compass, watch (great if can do stop watch but not to worry if not), head torch (great if it has red light, but not to worry if not). OS Explorer 174 Epping Forest & Lee Valley (not to worry if you don’t have, we can gather round maps we do have).
David is researching options for a meal as the return to Chingford Station will be between 7 and 8pm. Bring shoe covers!
